Your weekly source for all things Green in Brooklyn
Your Weekly Newsletter 11/10/2022
Ready for a week of outdoor fun and giving back to our community? Our amazing community neighbors have planned lots of free greentastic events. Hike and sketch, tour a historic cemetery, savor autumnal roots, learn about local mammals, and spot birds in Marine Park and Prospect Park. Have fun smashing your old Halloween pumpkins at BK Rot and McGolrick Park to produce compost for next year's gardens.
Take the kiddos to listen to nature storytelling, watch a song and dance performance, build outdoor shelters, and enjoy nature education activities while school is out on Veterans Day. Check out Cub Scouts Lucky Pack 7 for your elementary schoolers and Troop 1G(irls)  and Troop 26 (Boys) for your middle schoolers and high schoolers. What are they doing this weekend? These Brooklyn scouts are going camping in the Poconos. What fun!

And speaking of camping, Pack 7 (coed), Troop 1G(irls) and Troop 26 (Boys) are holding their first ever wreath fundraiser. Do consider buying a gorgeous, fresh, and fragrant 22″ balsam wreath for only $25. You'll bring holiday cheer to your home and help send a local Brooklyn scout to camp.
Our outdoor spaces need your love. Roll up your sleeves to weed, mulch and beautify our parks, community gardens and cityscapes: Know Wasteland, Marine Park, and Paerdegat Basin. Share ideas and best practices for membership engagement during the winter off-season. Keep fast fashion out of landfills by mending and upcycling. Get informed and engaged by attending a BQE Visioning Workshop, Greenpoint/Northside Townhall with our local elected officials, and the monthly Newtown Creek Superfund CAG meeting.
Check out the full weekly calendar of free eco events below. Go Green BK is here to showcase and share your wonderful events, programs, and hard work.  It's so easy to submit your calendar listings and articles directly online.
